Going to the Dogs

When I first started this blog, I really didn’t know what to expect. I figured I’d blog for a little while until I ran out of recipes and/or time. Instead, it has become a part of my everyday life. I find it to be a fabulous creative outlet, and blogging pushes me to think about what I’m making for dinner or dessert. I started out doing mainly dinners, and it has evolved into more desserts and baking, as that is where my true cooking passion lies.

Although my husband is one of the biggest fans of my blog (and food) he is not my most discriminating taste tester. That would be my pooches, Sushi and Rocky. I posted a while ago about one of their regular dinners. They are probably the most spoiled animals on the planet. They get to eat what we eat, minus the un-doggy friendly ingredients, of course. The lucky dogs have even traveled to Germany twice. Although I assume they have no idea they are not in Florida… other than the fact it is cold and my father in law sneaks them German sausage for breakfast.

This is a sweet chocolaty cookie that is only for the dogs. Before you panic about me feeding the dogs chocolate, the ingredients are all natural and are doggy friendly. There is neither sugar nor chocolate in it. Instead it contains honey and carob powder. But shhhhh… don’t tell them, as I think I may have fooled them!

Sushi seems interested…

Dog treats are a fun project of mine that I’m hoping to turn into a business one day, so I’ll just share the (all natural) ingredients.  I’ve been developing recipes for a while, and will eventually need four legged taste testers for future batches of treats.  I’ll keep everyone posted!

Choco-dogo-cookie ingredients: eggs, honey, vegetable oil, flour, wheat flour, carob powder, cinnamon, almonds.

that’s hilarious - my anti-spam word was sushi. YOUR sushi is adorable!! I assume rocky is as well, since I read your referenced post and saw that they are both chihuahuas.

my best friend cooks for her two winer dogs every night. very similar ingredients. rather than think of it as spoiled, I tend to think it’s a very positive thing because I don’t think animals are meant to eat dry kibble half composed of chemical ingredients.

Oh that puppy is so sweet! Look at that face! Your dogs should hang out with my cats. They are officially the most spoiled cats in the world as they, too, eat what we eat. The one cat doesn’t really care either way if he gets some of our food, but our other cat, my first baby, is a true foodie. Usually when I’m at the cutting board, he’s standing on his hind legs with his front paws reaching up trying to reach the counter and to let me know that he’s there so he can taste test whatever i’m making. It’s hilarious. Oh, and this is where he is nearly every time I’m posting to my blog: laying on the warm router behind my monitor:

Heh, I wonder if my cats would eat those! I even want to try it. It looks so pretty, too!

Aww, what a great idea! I would try making these for my dog, but he doesn’t really like biscuits (he takes them and wags his tail, so as not to hurt your feelings, then hides them under the sofa where you find them, half-chewed, days later ^__^). Gorgeous puppy!

How cool is that! You know, there’s a doggie bakery near my house and I just never thought anything of it but I bet you could make some serious money selling these!

I used to sell dog treats at a small local company one summer. I can’t wait to get a dog and make my own treats for them. I used to help decorate the treats, and every dog went crazy for the flavors especially the peanut butter and bacon.

my husband brews beer, and we sometimes make the dogs treats out of the spend grain, along with some peanut butter and egg - they love ‘em.

my dogs are surprisingly picky eaters though, although they do have refined tastes. one loves asparagus, but will only eat the most tender part of the very tip.

damn snotnose dogs. it’s a good thing they’re so freaking cute.
