I love your site and that bread sure looks good, I ca relate despite having good bread options now in Toronto, Ace bread for example, I believe they sell them in the US too now, it still is not the same as back home. The best pumpernickel is still bought around and I miss taking my bike in the morning picking up the broetchen, picking up the milk can at the local farmer and having a good weekend breakfast and then dropping of the milk can again in the evening to buy solid good country bread................ Your bread does look very very close to it! Did I mention I adore your site?

I have this book as well and it's great! Unfortunately I'm trying to lose weight right now but maybe when my kids get a bit bigger and they can eat some of the bread I'll go back to baking daily from this book. There is nothing like the smell and taste of homemade bread. Making bread with my grandfather is one of my fondest memories of him.
